To free humanity, they must save the enemy. The Ciri are dying-and if they fall, the world falls with them. Kryslie and her brothers are changing everything. Knowledge is returning. The balance of power is shifting. But rebellion will not save this world. An element essential to human life is poisoning the Ciri - weakening their bodies, clouding their minds, and driving their slow collapse. If they fall, they will leave the world exposed to something far worse. So the unthinkable becomes necessary.
The enemy must be made strong again-long enough to make them leave. But strength is not enough. The Ciri must change. They have no scientists, no builders, no understanding of the knowledge they suppressed. Now their survival depends on the humans they enslaved.
