A Promise Made - Part 1: The Enemy in Eden Death had freed her. The Guardians gave her a second chance. Great One Kryslie awakens on the world she and her brothers once promised a rebirth-into freedom, not slavery. Stripped of her former power, she sets out to help its people cast off the rule of the Ciri tyrants. Destroying them would be simpler, but the Guardians have other plans - and the Ciri are not only conquerors, but have women and children too.
Instead, Kryslie teaches what has long been forbidden, awakening knowledge buried for generations and giving the people the means to resist. When the Sentinel, Ji T'Obin, is brutally killed, he returns as an energy being, able to speak mind-to-mind with her. Through him, Kryslie learns of the Sleepers - children of legend, trained to move unseen within the Ciri cities. But when those children are threatened, the other Great Ones return, and the fragile resistance becomes something far greater.
Yet the Ciri, in their blind arrogance, have already set a far more dangerous force in motion-one that threatens the world itself. Now, the three Great Ones must not only drive the Ciri away.But prevent a cataclysm that could destroy everything.
