Cezary Lipinski ergänzt und verändert mithilfe neuer Archivfunde, aber auch bekannter doch bisher kaum genutzter Dokumente unsere Sicht auf Johannes Scheffler. Sie ermöglichen es, sowohl das Leben als auch die breit gefächerte konfessionelle und karitative Tätigkeit des Breslauers objektiver und differenzierter zu betrachten als das in den großen, mittlerweile schon hundert Jahre alten Biografien des Dichters manchmal der Fall gewesen ist.
Insofern lässt sich die vorliegende Monografie als ein Plädoyer für eine Rückbesinnung auf dokumentierte Fakten anstelle psychologistischer Interpretationen verstehen. New archival findings, as well as well-known if previously little-used documents, supplement and sometimes even change our view of Johannes Scheffler. They allow us to delve into the topics of both the life and the confessional and charitable activities of the Wroclaw resident in a more objective and diverse way than it was sometimes the case in the poet's biographies, now even a hundred years old.
In this regard, the monograph can be seen as a call to return to documented facts, at least where the archival materials are available.
