A l'occasion des 20 ans des éditions du MAC VAL, le musée invite le duo Syndicat à investir les 104 publications réalisées au cours de deux décennies. Les livres se déploient sur un podium de consultation présentant l'ensemble des textes publiés, soit 16 465 721 signes typographiques. En regard d'une sélection d'oeuvres de la collection du musée, des pages de catalogues sont affichées agrandies afin que les formats des reproductions et des originaux coïncident.
L'ensemble est accompagné de questions à propos de l'objet livre, auxquelles Alexandra Midal et Thierry Chancogne proposent au sein de cet ouvrage des réponses historiques, sémantiques, techniques ou sociologiques. To mark the twentieth anniversary of MAC VAL, the museum has invited the duo Syndicat to explore the 104 publications it has produced over the past two decades. The books are presented on a display platform that brings together all of the published texts a total of 16,465,721 typographic characters.
Alongside a selection of works from the museum's collection, enlarged pages from catalogs are exhibited so that the formats of the reproductions and the originals correspond. The exhibition is accompanied by a reflection on the book as an object, with Alexandra Midal and Thierry Chancogne offering historical, semantic, technical, and sociological perspectives in this publication.
