The genealogy of Morals is one of Friedrich Nietzsche's most influential and provocative philosophical works, first published in 1887. Through a series of three essays. Nietzsche launches a powerful critique of traditional morality, questioning the origins and values of concepts like good and evil, guilt, conscience, and responsibility. In the first essay, he contrasts "master morality" with "slave morality, " arguing that the latter aruse from resentment and the need of the weak to undermine the strong.
