The special brief of the journal is to advance undersanding of human symbolic processes, so there is a strong emphasis on theory-drriven research, the development of new theoretical models in communication, dialog and conversation, or cognitive processes, and the development of innovative methods for observing, measuring, formalizing and communication behavior.
The journal has a broad social and cognitive-science focus, so should appeal to researchers and scholars in cognition and social behavior mainly from psychology (for instance social psychology, developmental psychology, psychopathology), and secondarily from philososophy, pragmatics, linguistics, logics, and neuroscience, as well as areas of communication science. Review, theoretical, and methodological papers are also welcome, but the main thrust of the journal is on presentation of the best empirical research in the field.
