The 48 Preludi of the Venetian-born and Darmstadt-based composer were created, in large part, in the years 1998-2002 and are arranged in 4 cycles of 12 preludes each. Written in a traditional pianistic style, they are either short sketches or expansive concert pieces which often allude to known types of setting or themes from the piano music from Scarlatti to Schoenberg. Recorded by Antonio Tarallo on WERGO, the Preludi are a valuable addition to the repertoire, either individually, in freely formed groups or as a cycle, for both music lessons and competitions.
