In La fête malgache, Thierry Pécou brings the festive culture of Madagascar to life in an impressive tonal language. Repetitive rhythmic and melodic motifs lend the music a dance-like character. The playing techniques used are based on the sound of the katiboky - a traditional Malagasy wooden stick instrument. The vocal text is based on a poem by Adèle David, which poetically and memorably captures the atmosphere of Malagasy dance festivals.
