Henk Beentje is a botanist at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and has worked extensively on the flora of Africa and Madagascar. He was editor of the Flora of Tropical East Africa and he has written several field guides, Kenya trees, shrubs and lianas, and co-authored The Palms of Madagascar.
