Biographie de Dougal Austin

Dougal Austin originates from Oraka (Colac Bay) in the Foveaux Strait district of Murihiku. He is acting Senior Curator Maori at Te Papa, and also a Trustee of the Ngai Tahu Maori Rock Art Trust. He is a descendant of Aperahama Hutoitoi and Te Kaia, who were one of only two whanau known to have been still living in the remote sounds of Fiordland during the mid-nineteenth century. He is a descendant also of the paramount chief of South Westland, Te Koeti Turanga and his wife, Kawaipatiere Tutoko.
