Résumé

Innocence : The final play in The Paris Pentad, a dramatic epic stretching from the 1940s to the end of the twenty-first century. The conflicts at the heart of civilisation have erupted into violence, and the characters in Innocence must seek refuge in each other to escape the cruelty of war. The Balancing Act : In a society dominated by panic and obsession, a young girl presents a solution as irrational as the problems.
A wild and brilliant farce, in which a demolition expert accidentally brings the curtain down on the end of the sarld. Tune : Robert has locked himself in his room — his mother's crooked boyfriend is moving in, taking over the house and their lives. In a climactic scene Robert makes the ultimate demand of love, but is rejected. What future can he find out in the streets ? A Window : A young man takes great risks to help his traumatised, self-destructive mother.
Finally left alone, he meets his lost father in a startling confrontation. A Window addresses the timeless themes of classical drama by confronting the problems of the modern city. The Edge : On the edge of a new life, a young man encounters an elderly drunk lying in the street. What is he running from, and running towards ? His mother waits for him at bonne, and their fi-ont room becomes a thsatre where the universal drama of youth against age is acted out.
