Helen Molesworth is a Los Angeles-based writer, podcaster, and curator who has organized major solo exhibitions of artists Ruth Asawa, Moyra Davey, Noah Davis, Steve Locke, Kerry James Marshall, Catherine Opie, Amy Sillman, and Luc Tuymans, as well as highly influential group exhibitions such as Work Ethic (2002) ; This Will Have Been : Art, Love & Politics in the 1980s (2012) ; and Leap Before You Look : Black Mountain College 1933-1957 (2015).
Her exhibition catalogues have become touchstone volumes, featured on course syllabi for art history and art writing programs internationally. Recently, Molesworth's award-winning and critically acclaimed podcasts Recording Artists : Radical Women (2019) and Death of an Artist (2022) have extended her work into the realm of storytelling. Molesworth is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Clark Prize for Excellence in Arts Writing, and the Bard Center for Curatorial Studies Award for Curatorial Excellence.
This volume - the first such publication of her writing - marks thirty years of her contributions to the art historical record. Donna Wingate is an art book editor and creative director. She is cofounder, with Marc Joseph Berg, of Artist and Publisher Services, which collaborates with museums, institutions, publishers, artists, collectors, and others on art-related publications.
