“ Miss Jane -- Learn to embrace your difference ”

Brad Watson's 'Miss Jane' is a rather unique story of a rural Mississippi girl's struggle with a potentially socially handicapping birth defect which renders her incontinent. Yet is struggle really the most appropriate term to qualify Jane Chisholm's simple desire to live like any other human being ? In reality, the reader cannot be indifferent towards Jane's intrepid spirit, confounding her unloving family's resignation towards her incurable condition. The beauty in 'Miss Jane' is in the author's desire to communicate a message of accepting one's difference from other human beings, regardless of less charitable individuals' inability to understand the road less travelled. A beautifully written naturalist novel which captures the frustrations of life in a socially cramped rural setting.
