Giacometti, Beckett. Rater encore. Rater mieux

Parmi les amitiés littéraires d'Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966), celle qui le lie à Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) n'est pas la plus connue, mais c'est l'une des plus durables. Elle remonte à 1937 et se développe dans l'après-guerre. Les deux artistes aiment se retrouver dans les soirées sans fin des cafés de Montparnasse, puis arpenter Paris la nuit. De profondes parentés rapprochent leurs oeuvres plastiques et théâtrales, à la croisée de l'Existentialisme, qui s'expriment dans une collaboration exceptionnelle en 1961 : la réalisation par Giacometti d'un décor pour une mise en scène de la pièce En attendant Godot.
