The purpose of this collection is to give as broad a picture as possible of the applications of geometry. At the same time, since the papers in this collection have been written by pioneers and leading experts in each of the fields represented, the reader is assured of seeing the creativity, depth, and rigor that is an essential part of any successful application of mathematical knowledge.
