Résumé

Although graphic props such as invitations, letters, tickets, menus, packaging, and street signage are rarely seen close-up by a cinema audience, they are designed in painstaking detail. In this book, Dublin-based designer annie atkins invites readers into the creative process behind the intricately designed, rigorously researched, and visually stunning graphic props created for vies anderson's the grand Budapest hotel and Isle of Dols, Steven Spielberg's bridge of spies and Todd Haynes's wonderstruck, among other films and television series.
Annie Atkins specializes in graphic art for filmmaking. She designs paper props and background signage for actors to work with on set—like postage stamps and banknotes to help build Wes Anderson's fictional Alpine land, Zubrowka, or shop-front signs and fake passports for Steven Spielberg's midcentury New York. Shifting from period to period and place to place, Atkins has designed graphics for films and television series such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs, Bridge of Spies, Wonderstruck, The Boxtrolls, The Tudors, and Penny Dreadful, among others.
Originally from Wales, she now works from her studio in Dublin, where she lives with her partner and son.
