ERNST HAAS was one of the most important photographers of the twentieth century. Born in Vienna in 1921, he immigrated to the United States in 1950. Haas was an early innovator in color photography, his images often gracing the covers of Life and Vogue. In 1962 his prodigious output was the subject of the first single-artist exhibition of color photography at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Ernst Haas published multiple books throughout his life including The Creation in 1971, which became one of the bestselling photography books of all time.
