This guide describes two cycle routes between London and Paris : the classic route (490km) via Kent and the Hauts-de-France region crossing the English Channel between Dover and Calais, and the Avenue Verte (387km) through East Sussex and Normandy crossing between Newhaven and Dieppe. Both routes pass over gently rolling chalk downland and limestone plateau, interspersed with pretty valleys and small market towns.
