Résumé
Celestial Sites, Celestial Splendors presents us with a beautiful and fascinating panorama of more than a hundred carefully chosen astronomical objects and provides a comprehensive and practical guide to viewing them with simple instruments, such as binoculars or a small telescope, and sometimes even with the naked eye. With an accessible style that will appeal to all amateur astronomers and anyone interested in the night sky, this book:
- Gives the basics of general ideas in modern astronomy, including a good introduction to celestial mechanics.
- Covers a wide range of celestial objects - from nearby planets, meteors and comets, to distant stars, galaxies and nebulae - and, for every object shows it as it appears through the telescope.
- Provides a wealth of essential viewing advice and background information.
