Résumé
Archaeological rescue excavations uncovered three burial grounds in Nädlac, dating from the 6th-7th, and from the 8th centuries. The archaeology illustrates perfectly the profound changes in social life and lifestyle. The burial customs and material culture documented at these 6th-7th and 8th century sites provided important archaeological data on the mobile lifestyle (nomadism) and possible micro-regional patterns of migration, trade, and cultural transfers.
Anthropological and archaeozoological analysis similarly provided numerous new data about the Avar Period population and environment - particularlywith regard to those animals which can be found in burial context. The modesty of grave finds, as well as the burial customs specific to the Avar Period, reflect the transitional character ofthe area - an "in-between" area, as such, forthe central region of the AvarKhaganate and the periphery.
