Most natural and industrial flows are turbulent in whole or in part. The atmosphere and oceans, automobile and aircraft engines, all provide examples of this ubiquitous phenomenon. Biographie de Jean Mathieu

Jean Matheiu is Emeritus Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Accoustics Laboratory, École Centrale de Lyon. He founded and was Director until 1987 of the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics at École Centrale de Lyon, internationally known for its work in turbulence. Julian Scott is Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics Laboratory, École Centrale de Lyon, and Co-Director of the Turbulence Group at École Centrale de Lyon.
