Brandy Nálani McDougall (Kanaka 'Óiwi) is a poet, scholar, mother, and aloha 'áina from A'apueo, Maui, and now lives with her 'ohana in Kalaepóhaku, Oahu. She is the director of the Manoa Center for the Humanities and Civic Engagement and an associate professor of Indigenous studies in the University of Hawaii at Mänoa's American Studies Department. Selected as the Hawai'i Poet Laureate for 2023-2025, she is the author of Finding Meaning : Kaona and Contemporary Hawaiian Literature and the collection of poetry The Salt-Wind : Ka Makani Pa'akai.
