L'auteur, Gérard Ber est aujourd'hui retraité. Informaticien de formation, il s'est lancé dans l'héliciculture en 2013 après avoir étudié les résultats de la station hélicicole de l'ITAVI au Magnéraud sur l'élevage du petit gris.
