La Route du Rhum

It's obvious : we will spend our imminent stay in Martinique touring these properties which so powerfully evoke the romanticism of the great Béké planter families, the Counts of La Mauny, the Ballys, Assier de Pompignan, Dyel-Duparquet , Hodebourg, Huygues Despointes, Dormoy, Pamphile, Vernant-Neisson, Crassous de Médeuil, Rezard de Wouves, Duchamp de Chastaigné, Fouquet, Marraud des Grottes, Hayot and many other names that suggest large sailing ships, lush gardens, avenues of palm trees, swings, verandas with large wicker armchairs and castles of oak barrels.
From Rome, the author takes you to the king of all rums, the Rome agricole from Martinique, by one of these behemoths of the sea, via several of the Lesser Antilles.
