Anthropo-sociologue, Alain de Vulpian a fondé en 1954 la COFREMCA-Sociovision, une équipe de sociologues de terrain spécialisés dans la compréhension du changement dans les sociétés modernes et la conception de politiques innovantes puis, en 1975, la RISC (Research Institute on Social Change), dont il a assuré la présidence jusqu'en 1990. Il a animé le Club Jean Moulin, puis a fondé l'Ami Public, le Club des Vigilants, les Ateliers de la Citoyenneté. Il a été pendant plus de 10 ans co-président de SoL France avant de créer HappyMorphose en 2017.
