Welche Rolle spielen Emotionen beim Entstehen und bei der Vermittlung moralischer und politischer Überzeugungen? Fachbeiträge aus katholischer und evangelischer Theologie, aus Philosophie, Politikwissenschaft und Soziologie untersuchen das Zusammenspiel diskursiver und affektiver Komponenten im Kontext öffentlicher Versammlung und Vergemeinschaftung. Geleitet wird der Band von der Annahme, dass in den Gründen, die für ein Handeln angeführt werden, unmittelbar affektiv erfahrene, soziokulturell eingebettete und sprachlich reflektierte Artikulationsformen vielfach miteinander verflochten sind.
Für die christliche Theologie birgt eine solche nichtdiskursive Dimension moralischer Selbstverständigung in einer freiheitlichen Gesellschaft ein wichtiges Potential, das bisher nur wenig reflektiert wurde. The contributions of this volume analyse the interplay of discursive and affective elements in the context of public assemblies.
Experts from the fields of Catholic and Protestant theology, of philosophy, sociology, and political science point out how moral arguments work together on different levels: experienced as immediately convincing, embedded in social practices and reflected in moral reasoning. Thus, a non-discursive dimension of political ethics is brought to the fore which has so far been neglected in Christian ethics.
