Résumé

This volume has been published to commemorate the 850th anniversary of Loccum Abbey near Hanover. Members of the Abbey and befriended scholars investigate the foundation and the major stages in the history of the Abbey. With the Reformation the properous Cistercian abbey was converted into an evangelical monastery. The abbots gained extensive political influence and the Abbey ran a seminary for preachers.
The volume includes studies on the foundation of the Abbey, on the medieaval veneration of the saints, on the introduction of the Reformation and its subsumption under the principality of Calenberg. It concludes with observations on the work of a preacher seminary and on the future training of theologians.

A propos de Hans Otte

Prof. Dr. Hans Otteist seit 1981 Direktor des Landeskirchlichen Archivs Hannover und lehrt niedersächsische Kirchengeschichte an der Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Göttingen. Dr. Christian Stäblein ist Konventual-Studiendirektor des Predigerseminars der Ev.-luth. Landeskirche Hannovers im Kloster Loccum. Heinrich Holze ist Professor em. für Kirchengeschichte an der Theologische Fakultät der Universität Rostock. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Vernetzungen und Rezeptionen der Geschichte des Christentums im Hochmittelalter und in der Neuzeit. Veröffentlichungen (Auswahl):, "Migration und Kulturtransfer im Ostseeraum während der Frühen Neuzeit" (zus.
mit Otfried Czaika 2012). - "Die Kirchen des Nordens in der Neuzeit (16.-20. Jahrhundert)" (2011). Dr. Gerald Kruhöffer ist Stellvertretender Leiter des Religionspädagogischen Instituts der Evangelisch-lutherischen Landeskirche Hannovers in Loccum. Dr. Hedwig Röckelein ist Professorin für Mittlere und Neuere Geschichte an der Universität Göttingen. Dr. theol. Thomas Jan Kück ist Superintendent in Stade und Mitglied im Beitrat der Gesellschaft für Niedersächsische Kirchengeschichte.
