Willpower

We were perfectly balanced, both of us exerting pressure on each other's body, both of us straining to make the other submit, both of us surviving on willpower alone. Felix had his arms wrapped around my belly and was squeezing as hard as he could. I was having a hard time breathing, but so was he-first of all because taking a breath would force him to relax his arm muscles, second of all because I had my arm wrapped around his neck.
His chest was pressed against my back, hot and sweaty. My foot between his legs meant that Felix couldn't try to dislodge my arms by falling forward. And falling backwards would strain his knees and let me sink my choke hold in deeper. If I tried to fall, I risked his head sliding out from between my arms. Like I said, perfectly balanced. It was a test of wills; whoever had the most grit would win the fight, would obtain complete and utter domination over the loser.
