Résumé

What happens when a new neighbor comes to town? Rotten fruit baskets, strange sex cults, and hexes.lots of hexes. CalistaLife was pretty simple for Calista Glenn, and she liked it that way. Though her job was rather demanding, and her dog, Harvey, judged her often, she was still happy and had no real complaints. She was also a bit of a firebrand, but she had to be. As a state inspector in the dairy industry, she got challenged a lot, but that was okay since she could hold her own and often did.
So, all in all, life wasn't that bad. She also lived in a great neighborhood, and though single with no kids, that didn't stop Calista from appreciating the family-oriented vibe that filled her cul-de-sac. She lived in a neighborhood where people looked out for each other, and it brought a sense of safety and comfort that many other places lacked. Of course, that was with the exception of Louise Mackrell. MyerLife was pretty unassuming for Myer Justus, but he was perfectly fine with that.
Yeah, his job wasn't for everyone, and he put in a lot of hours, but coming home to his goldfish, Lilibeth, always eased the tension of the day. He was also very easygoing, and as the manager of the shipping yard, his calm demeanor helped him juggle all the different personalities that reported to him. So, all in all, it worked for him. He'd also been fortunate enough to find a new house in a great neighborhood, and it helped with the fresh start that he'd been needing to make.
Though single with no kids, the family-friendly environment was exactly what Myer needed at the end of the day, and he liked how everyone seemed so kind. Of course, that was with the exception of Louise Mackrell. When there turns out to be a little bit of crazy in the neighborhood. When Calista first meets Myer Justus, it's not the meet cute that always happens in movies and books. Instead, he comes over, offering to help her remove a rotten fruit basket, and it falls on her to inform the man of just what exactly he's gotten himself into. When Myer first meets Calista Glenn, it's not like in those television sitcoms where there's a homemade casserole or pie involved.
Instead, it involves a rotten fruit basket, a whole bunch of flies, and an ominous warning that all is not what it seems in the neighborhood. As Calista and Myer do their best to avoid Ms. Louise Mackrell, it's a lot easier said than done when they find themselves at one of her spiritual prayer groups and encounter a lot more crazy than they'd been originally prepared for. Stil, what's the worst that could happen, right? Cue the hexes. NOTE: This book contains adult language, adult situations, explicit sexual encounters, a judgey dog, meddling siblings, and a neighbor that enjoys placing hexes on people a little too much.
If sensitive to any of the aforementioned issues, please do not purchase.
