What's the Story?-3: Past, Present and Future is Kim Matics' third collection of short stories in the series. A few themes of the 27 stories and poems are semi-autobiographical in nature, starting with past incidents from her mother's childhood, followed by her own formative years living with artistic and musical parents. Then the mood shifts to London, where the author continued academic research as a postgraduate student.
The subsequent category comprises impressions while lecturing at the university level and later engaged in rural development in several Asian countries. As for the present, various perspectives on the existential phenomena of old age, sickness and death and how diffierent individuals cope with these unavoidable aspects of life are touched upon. The future seeks to imagine how some experiences might transpire in the years ahead.
