Résumé

September 1, 1939, pre-dawn.  Germany invades Poland.      Gert von Rader, the playboy son of a powerful industrial family and Abwehr officer, lies in wait on a rural road near the border.  He's in a race against time.  He must convince Aleksander Jankowski, a Polish aviation engineer, to keep a secret they share, or von Rader and his family will be destroyed.  He must also persuade Jankowski to flee Poland, or he will be conscripted as a high-skills slave laborer in the service of the Reich.      Their win-or-lose standoff plays out throughout the war, even altering its course.
It draws in Annelise Erickson, a Danish-born officer of the Abwehr, whose love for Gert may be a cover for secrets of her own; Franceska Jankowski, who will do anything to rescue her husband from forced collaboration with the Nazis; and Louis Coleman, a French boy, and his dog Topper who dare to discover what the Luftwaffe is concealing. Relentlessly pursuing them is Wolfgang Fleisher, a Luftwaffe major dedicated to exploiting von Rader's secret, and Frank Tracy, a German spy, assassin, and scam artist based in London.     Web of War brings them together in a battle of wits, determination, and sacrifice.
