Abuse could spin a web like no other, especially when criminals and dirty politicians were involved. I worked hard for my clients. Being a female family law attorney had a unique level of stress, but that was what running was for-and what taking care of miscreants who mistreated their partners was for. The divorce case I'd accepted should have been another run-of-the-mill case, but her well-connected husband found my card ahead of schedule, and the mob was breathing down my neck.
Handling business was what I did, but when both of our lives were in jeopardy, I wasn't too proud to hire help. But Rex Landry was nothing like I'd expected. I'd worked with many beautiful women during my tenure with Black Widow Security, but none compared to Miyori St. Jean. Though I'd seen her ability to take care of herself firsthand, I quickly realized I'd do whatever it took to keep her safe.
