Hundert Jahre nach dem Untergang Galiziens als territoriale Verwaltungseinheit der Habsburger Monarchie geht dieser Band der Frage nach, was von dem knapp 150 Jahre bestehenden Kronland und seiner multikulturellen Lebenswelt geblieben ist, was durch historische Wandlungsprozesse verloren ging und welche neuen Perspektiven in der Forschung zu Galizien eingeschlagen werden können. Im besonderen Fokus stehen dabei die Kontinuitäten, Brüche und Perspektiven in Kultur und Gesellschaft des ehemaligen Galiziens.
Der Band beinhaltet eine Auswahl an interdisziplinären Beiträgen, die die Leser:innen durch die Westukraine und Südostpolen vom 18. Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart auf den Spuren des galizischen Erbes sowie historischer und gesellschaftlicher Umbrüche führen. Die Beiträge umfassen die Themenbereiche der Rechtsgeschichte, Sprachenpolitik, Nationsbildung, Arbeitsmigration und Pflege, Kirchenpolitik und literarischen Erinnerungsorte. This volume is a selection of interdisciplinary papers that guide readers through Western Ukraine and Southeastern Poland from the 18th century to the present in traces of Galician heritage and historical and social upheavals.
lt sets out to explore the question of what remains of the crown land that existed for almost 150 years and its multicultural living environment that was lost through processes of historical change as well as the adaptation of new perspectives on Galicia. The contributions cover the topics of legal history, language politics, nationbuilding, labor migration and care, church politics, and literary sites of memory.
