Résumé

Seven years ago, Harsurinder Singh boarded a flight to Brampton, Canada, chasing the life his family had sold gold and taken loans to give him. He never said goodbye properly. He never said the words he meant to say to Kiran Kaur, either. Now his father's sudden health scare brings him back to Faridkot, Punjab, for the first time since he left - and every certainty he built abroad starts quietly unraveling.
His mother reveals a nursing career she gave up the week she married. His uncle wants him to sign away his share of the family land, since "he won't be needing it." His childhood friends have all built different versions of the life he walked away from - one content, one still dreaming of the same visa, one nearly ruined chasing it the wrong way. And Kiran, now teaching at the village school, is still waiting on a sentence he never finished.
Wapsi is a story about the arithmetic distance never quite adds up right - what leaving costs the people who stay, and what staying costs the people who leave. It follows one man's two weeks between two homes, and ends where real decisions actually get made: standing at a station platform, ticket in hand, with no one but the reader left to decide what happens next.
