Résumé

Walk on Water is a three-part look at surfing: Part One, Primal Blind Desire, youth. A sailing adventure from Mexico to Vanuatu. Part two, the tension between professional and amateur that engulfed culture in the early 1970s. Follows the two friends, Billy with the spirit of a hermit and Jake, the archetype pirate. It is a one-year slice of life on the North Shore of Oahu. Post-Vietnam for Billy, post-escaping Vietnam for Jake.
In Part Three, managing desire in old age. Pirate adventurer Jake has been able to evade commitment, responsibility, and love by e-booking his misadventures through Craig, a time-warped hippie accountant living in North Beach, San Francisco. Balding with a sixty-plus aching body, Jake kite surfs into an Indonesian crater where he visits a beer ashram and is given one last chance to make a stand with Osley, who's been hiding from the FBI for 30 years.
