Wie vernetzt ist eine Kirchengemeinde? Dieser Band versammelt am Fallbeispiel einer evangelischen Kirchengemeinde empirische Analysen zu den inneren und äußeren Beziehungen ihrer Kirchenmitglieder. Wer kommt mit welchem Angebot in Kontakt? Wer spricht mit wem über den Sinn des Lebens? Persönliche Beziehungen, religiöse Kommunikation, Geselligkeit und zivilgesellschaftliche Beteiligung der Kirchenmitglieder werden untersucht.
Die zugrundeliegenden Daten wurden im Rahmen der V.
Kirchenmitgliedschaftsuntersuchung der EKD erhoben und werden in diesem Band mit den Methoden der Netzwerkforschung ausgewertet. Die Netzwerkanalyse bietet detaillierte Einsichten in kirchengemeindliche Strukturen und die Rolle von Akteuren (z. B. Ehrenamtliche) auf der Mikro-Ebene von persönlichen Interaktionen. In dieser neuartigen relationalen Perspektive kommt Kirche als Netzwerk von Beziehungen und Kontaktgelegenheiten in den Blick. [Networked Church. Social Network Analysis of Congregational Life Based on the 5th Survey of Church Membership of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD)] What can we learn about social networks within a religious congregation? This volume offers unique insights into the internal social relations among congregants as well as their external social ties.
Using social network analysis, this case study examines the social life of one Protestant congregation in Germany, focusing not only on the personal relationships among church members but also on their religious communication and their civic participation. As one of the results, the analysis highlights the unique social roles that individuals, clergy, staff members and volunteers play within the social system of a congregation. The empirical analysis is based on extensive network data collected for the fifth survey of church membership of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD).
Following this unique relational perspective, the authors find congregations to be complex networks of interpersonal relations and organized structures.
