Résumé

Did you know that the world's biggest tongue belongs to the blue whale? Or that the snub-nosed monkey's nostrils point upwards, and when it rains it makes them sneeze? From paws to claws, tongues, teeth, tails and more, compare the biggest and the smallest animals (and all the others in between) in this illustrated exploration of creatures and their features. Includes stunning 'UP CLOSE' pages, which take a life-size look at a particular feature of two very different animals.
See the mighty elephant's trunk (it can grow as long as a bathtub!) and compare it to the sensitive snout of an elephant shrew. Study the bristly tongue of a penguin and see how different it is to the stretchy, long tongue of a salamander. Written by science writer and children's book author Isabel Thomas, with beautiful illustrations by Dawn Cooper, this absorbing book will delight and educate young animal lovers aged 6+.
Isabel Thomas studied Human Sciences at the University of Oxford. She is a science writer and children's author who has been shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize, the ASE Science Book of the Year, and the Blue Peter Book Awards. Isabel also writes for children's science magazines Whizz Pop Bang and The Week Junior Science + Nature, and for science outreach projects. She is a primary school governor and parent of three young sons. Dawn CooperDawn graduated from Bath School of Art & Design with a first-class degree in Graphic Communication in 2011, and she has rarely set down her pens and paper since! Her work includes non-fiction children's books, book covers, maps and packaging.
Dawn finds great inspiration from the natural world, traditional botanical drawings, animals, works of fiction and illustrated quotations.
