Diese L'Homme-Ausgabe widmet sich der Frauen- und Geschlechtergeschichte in der Ukraine von der Frühen Neuzeit bis in die jüngste Gegenwart und möchte dazu beitragen, dass die innovativen Forschungen ukrainischer Kolleg*innen als integraler Bestandteil der europäischen Historiografie wahrgenommen werden. Dies erscheint in Zeiten des Krieges nicht nur wissenschaftlich, sondern auch geschichtspolitisch wichtiger denn je.
Die Ukraine ist das flächenmäßig größte Land Europas, sie ist Teil einer europäischen Verflechtungs- und Transfergeschichte und doch noch immer ein weißer Fleck auf der historiografischen Landkarte westlicher Öffentlichkeiten. Dies gilt auch für die rege feministische Geschichtswissenschaft, die zu wenig oder nur mit großer Verzögerung rezipiert wird. It aims at a better perception of the innovative research of Ukrainian colleagues as an integral part of European historiography. In times of war, this seems more important than ever, not only in regard to scientific exchange but also in its relevance for a better understanding of Ukraine in terms of politics of history. Ukraine is the largest country in Europe in terms of area, it is an integral part of a European history of entanglements and transfers, and at the same time still a blank spot on the historiographical map of Western publics.
This also applies to the lively research on gender history, which is received too little or only with great delay in the West.
