Résumé

"A heartwarming account of our world's rich multiculturalism and the common human language of kindness." - Helen Croydon, British author, broadcaster and former journalistJacqui Webster always longed to travel in Africa - she just never expected it would be on a bike! Inspired by her partner Joe's adventurous spirit and a desire to push herself outside her comfort zone, she decides to accompany him on a year-long cycling journey from Morocco to Malaysia. Leaving their jobs behind for a year,  they cycle 18, 000 kilometres through 30 countries.
Scaling the High Atlas, they stay with Berber families in Morocco, skirt the Sierra Nevada in Spain, brave the bears camping in the Rhodope mountains in Bulgaria and conquer the fifty hairpins over the highest pass in Slovenia. But their sense of purpose is completely lost in Turkey, and Jacqui begins to wonder why on earth she agreed to this crazy adventure. Barely surviving the heat, they arrive in Istanbul to find they can't get visas for China.
Land borders to Azerbaijan are also closed. They might have to give up. Instead, in a leap of faith, Jacqui and Joe do a complete u-turn and decide to go to Africa. Starting in Kigali, Rwanda, they cross rivers and deserts, connecting with people and encountering wild animals as they journey towards Cape Town. It's a test of endurance and a chance to discover if leaving everything behind was the bravest thing they've ever done - or their biggest mistake.
