"Toddler Swimming" builds on the concepts in Lilli Ahrendt's "Baby Swimming" and focuses on swimming with children up to the age of 3. It is directed at interested parents and course instructors alike. Part one looks at the basic principles of child development and also provides us with the latest scientific information regarding parent-child swimming. A specially developed teaching concept is introduced in the more practice-oriented part two and is supplemented with numerous methodical didactic tips and creative ideas.
Discovering water as an element of movement, gradually getting accustomed to water, and finally feeling comfortable in it, is certainly the most appropriate way of learning to swim at a pre-school age without being afraid. Parents can accompany their child on this sometimes long and strenuous path, supporting him with familiar hands and being a good example. As a consequence, their child develops his skills in the water on his own free will and with a lot of pleasure while also learning to estimate risks and personal limits.
