Résumé
Three Bird Song is a modern-day folktale about friendship, loyalty, community and acceptance. Written in the tradition of Ghanaian storytelling, author Efua Winful has captured the charm and vitality of the country from which she came. Chi, a plain brown bird and Kah, a pompous, white-vested crow, are used to being chased from the marketplace because of their annoying calls when they go searching for food.
Enter Puht, a tiny bird with an unusually long beak from a faraway town, looking for friendship and approval. With a famine raging and most of the birds having left for better opportunities elsewhere, the three birds are thrown together and win over the traders at the local market who give them scraps of food instead of shooing them away. As the weeks go by, Chi and Kah begin to get on each other's nerves and wonder if they are not better off being by themselves.
Is that the end of a friendship? Will they ever come back together? This story's light-hearted and engaging style draws readers into the world inhabited by these birds. Their personalities and quirks are brought to life as they interact with each other, as well as, with the human world they inhabit. Join the three birds in this delightful story as they figure out the best path for themselves.
