Résumé

On the open plains of the American frontier, a small boy is left behind. Abandoned in the dead of night, bloodied and alone, he survives by instinct, silence, and stubborn will. When he is nearly trampled by a cattle drive, fate intervenes in the form of William Preston-a respected rancher, husband, and father whose life is rooted in land, work, and order. The boy cannot speak. He has no name. And in a world ruled by law, prejudice, and rigid belief, his very existence is considered a crime.
William brings the child home, calling him Thorn, and for the first time since his violent separation from his mother, the boy begins to feel something like safety. On the Preston ranch, Thorn finds solace among horses, learns the rhythms of honest work, and forms a quiet bond with William and his foreman, Tucker. But acceptance is fragile, and kindness carries consequences. As town laws, social fear, and religious judgment close in, William is forced to confront what it truly means to be a good man-and whether doing what is right will cost him everything he has built.
Thorn is a powerful, emotionally grounded Western about belonging, moral courage, and the quiet strength of a child who refuses to disappear. Told with restraint and humanity, it explores the cost of compassion in a harsh world and asks a timeless question: What do we owe one another when the law says we owe nothing at all?
