Résumé

A woman in a blue dress walks into a city older than memory. She can't remember why she came to the city, the alley, the door. Inside waits a room that shouldn't exist and at its center is a splintered chair and coils of waiting rope. It is a stage set for a performance with no script, no words, and no audience. The Theater Without an Audience is a flash fiction work of surreal, gothic horror about ritual, surrender, and the terrible suspicion that we are all rehearsing a play we've mistaken for a life.
Atmospheric and hypnotic, it circles back on itself like a recurring dream. The kind you're never quite sure you've woken from.
MusQueToe is a writer and experimental musician based in South Carolina. His work lives at the seam between philosophical essay and experimental prose, built out of absurdism, Jungian psychology, and Rinzai Zen. The aim is not to resolve the questions but to stay inside them long enough to see what they do to a person. After a long silence, MusQueToe returned to consistent work: essays, fiction, and poems that keep circling the same central questions from different angles, each form asking something the others can't.
MusQueToe also makes avant-garde music, assembled from voice, instrument, and code. Vocal manipulation is the central technique: the human voice stretched, layered, and processed until it becomes something closer to instrument than speech. The music and the writing come from the same place and often work through the same ideas, just in a different register.
