Résumé
After Mara deletes the list that once mapped The Night Archive's buried secrets, one encrypted name survives in a place it should never have reached: a sealed appeal file outside Archive control. To investigative journalist Quinn Rourke, the name looks like the break he has been waiting for-a way to prove the Rookwell Compact is still manipulating courts, records, and the truth itself. To trauma expert Dr.
Inez Varga, it is something far more dangerous: the name of Elena Saye, a victim-witness who supposedly died before she could testify. But Elena may not be dead. As Inez and Quinn follow the trail through falsified death certificates, sealed psychiatric transfers, corrupted court orders, and private guardianships, they uncover a conspiracy designed to do more than silence survivors. Rookwell has learned how to erase them legally-turning living witnesses into dead women, delusional patients, or accused accomplices before they can speak.
Quinn wants the story that could expose everything. Inez knows the wrong kind of exposure could destroy the very woman they are trying to save. Their attraction is immediate, dangerous, and impossible to separate from the case: every secret Inez protects may be evidence Quinn needs, and every truth Quinn publishes may become a weapon against survivors. To save Elena, they must find a third path between silence and spectacle-one where truth is told without being stolen.
But when a black moth symbol appears inside the erased records, Inez and Quinn realize Elena's name was not the only one waiting to be opened. And someone outside The Night Archive has already begun waking the dead.
