David P. Steen is an American author of fantasy, suspense, and speculative fiction. Born in Texas and raised in Minnesota, he spent four years in the U. S. military before pursuing business studies at Central Texas College. His writing blends ordinary people and familiar places with strange worlds, supernatural mysteries, and characters forced into extraordinary circumstances. Influenced by writers such as Stephen King, Anne Rice, Roger Zelazny, and Louis L'Amour, Steen favors character-driven stories in which mystery unfolds gradually and the larger truth is rarely what it first appears to be.

Résumé
Fourteen-year-old Paul expected the summer of 1984 to be ordinary. Instead, a mysterious doorway beneath Loring Park pulls him and his friends into a world where nothing is quite what it seems. What begins as curiosity quickly becomes a fight for survival as Paul encounters strange creatures, hidden passages, impossible places, and people who seem to know far more about him than they should.
