Résumé
The sun over the Khorat Plateau is no longer a life-giver; it has become a "silent, golden predator" that has turned the earth into a "mosaic of geometric cracks". In the village of Non Sa-at, the rice stalks have withered into "yellowed skeletons, " and the community's survival rests on more than just modern science-it rests on the whiskers of a "patch-work warrior" named Som-Zaa. Mali, a young girl deeply rooted in her heritage, discovers that her grumpy calico cat is more than a thief of grilled fish; she is a "Thunder-Caller".
According to her grandmother, Som-Zaa is a "Silver Meow"-a rare feline whose purr vibrates at the "exact pitch of a brewing storm, " capable of acting as a bridge between the parched earth and the weeping sky. To save her village from being abandoned for the concrete noise of Bangkok, Mali must lead a sacred procession. She assembles a "Feline Council" of local legends to join the chorus: The General: A massive, battle-scarred ginger tom from the local temple.
The Socialite: A pampered, cream-colored Siamese from the Mayor's estate. The Ghost: A mysterious jet-black phantom that haunts the roots of an ancient Banyan tree. Together, this motley crew of cats must be carried in a flower-decked bamboo palanquin through the "white-hot sun" to the Temple of the Dragon Clouds. The Whisker Weather Rites: Cat Parade is a heart-warming tale of cultural heritage, the unbreakable bond between humans and animals, and a community's desperate hope that the "truest magic" of a song-and a cat-can finally wash the dust of Isan away.
