Résumé

The whole world is now paying good money to get back the exact life I was born into and could not wait to leave. Where I come from, food still begins in the ground. It is grown on the farm, carried to the market while it is still alive, and eaten the same day. People do not join gyms - the day's work keeps the body strong. The "poor" plate of greens and simple grain turns out to be close to the food scientists now study and praise.
I grew up rich in the one wealth that matters, and I did not know it, and I traded it away the first chance I got - for the West, and its endless shelves, and its promise of more. This is the story of what I lost, what it cost my body, and how I am finding my way back. It is not a story about the past. The way of living I describe is happening right now - and it is being taken apart, fast, even in the place I come from, before the people who still have it understand what they are losing.
Along the way I have come to believe a few simple things. That you cannot outrun your plate. That what we put on our bodies matters almost as much as what we put in them. That the body rebuilds itself every night out of whatever we feed it. And that hope does not require a perfect plan or a finished, perfect self - only your next meal. I am not a doctor, and this is not a diet. It is one person's honest journey home to the table, written for anyone who has ever felt that the way we are told to eat, and live, and chase health has somehow gotten everything backwards.
Begin with your plate. The rest will follow.
