Résumé

Twenty-five years ago, FBI agent Frank Cross vanished into the world of the Vellutto crime family and never came back out. His murder was written off as a mob hit - case closed, file sealed. His daughter never believed it. Now Assistant U. S. Attorney Elena Cross is building the case that could finally topple Dominic Vellutto, the polished don who inherited his father's empire and buried it under decades of legitimate shipping contracts.
But the deeper Elena digs, the more her father's cold case and her own investigation start to bleed into one another - until she uncovers the truth neither the Vellutto family nor the U. S. Department of Justice ever wanted found: a classified protocol, the Vellutto Directive, that has protected the family from the inside for a quarter of a century. Her father didn't die because he got too close to the mob.
He died because he got too close to the people sworn to stop it. With her only ally compromised, her career on the line, and a killer from her father's case still walking free inside her own agency, Elena has one shot to expose a conspiracy that runs deeper than the family she's prosecuting before the harbor claims a second Cross.
