The Hoysala rulers of the Hoysala Empire of Karnataka were great patrons of the arts and also builders of magnificent Temples. Very few of these temples survived the rvages of war over the years. The Temple of Chennakeshava at Somnathapura near the royal city of Mysore is one of the few surviving temples where you get to see the magnificence of the Temples built by them. This temple is a gem of intricate and detailed carvings whihc tell the stories fom the Hindu Epics and scriptures.
This book is a small quick guide to the Temple at Somnathapura, easy to read with a large number of photographs. It makes for an enjoyable read.
