Veric faces giant spiders, giant snakes, and... ghosts? After witnessing as a child the death of his parents, burned alive by dragonfire, Veric seeks for answers about his past in a world of humans that slowly falls into chaos and war. This volume includes novellas 7 to 9 in the series: 7 - A Conference of Snakes: Veric and his friends are taken prisoners by giant snakes. To prove their good intentions, our hero attempts to end a conflict between the creatures and a nearby community of elves. 6 - Fire From the Sky: As he crosses through the mysterious and fog-ridden kingdom of Exalithen, Veric is haunted by visions and makes the strangest encounters.
Things become even more tense when he meets with Luksian soldiers. 7 - In Shadows We Hide: Finally back in Aruvan, Veric finds the capital besieged by murderous shadows. His quest leads him down a dark and dangerous path that could affect his sanity... These three stories reveal more about the characters and the world they live in, and provide both answers and new questions. "The Swarming Death" is a series of 12 high fantasy novellas that veers progressively into epic.
Though it starts gentle, it grows in complexity and becomes darker with each new installment.
